Common Sense 2020
Understanding Today's Political Environment
Near the beginning of our Revolutionary War, in January 1776, English-born American political theorist Thomas Paine authored Common Sense, perhaps the most influential writing at the time. This publication helped inspire Patriots to ultimately declare independence from the authoritarian rule of King George III and Great Britain.
Throughout the decades following our founding, America has evolved and grown. There have certainly been struggles along the way but, suffice it to say, the United States of America has been the only true shining beacon for individual freedom and liberty ever established.
Every year, people from around the world migrate to this country to experience freedom. Some are escaping fascist or socialistic regimes that oppress a person's ability to live. Others simply want to experience what has been termed the American Dream.
Regardless of the reason, this nation has provided individuals what no other nation ever has.
Yet, it now appears to be at risk.
Today's political climate is unlike any other in our nation's history. State and local elected officials have enacted draconian, even tyrannical, measures, while also allowing lawlessness to run rampant in our streets.
An internationally declared pandemic, that has numerous testing and reporting issues, has opened the door to allow open season on the freedom, rights and liberties of We the People.
Tom Solari, screenwriter of the award-winning In Search of Liberty Constitution movie, penned this essay to assist people as they navigate through these seemingly uncertain times with more understanding and clarity.
He titled it Common Sense 2020: Understanding Today's Political Environment, and it is offered below as a free PDF eBook download.
As Solari wrote, "We have generations of people who don't understand the exceptional greatness of this country."
Common Sense 2020 will shed light on, and open some eyes to, what this country means to countless millions who desire their unalienable rights, including Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
